Fish Care

To successfully introduce new fish:

Test your water for pH, nitrites, ammonia, salt level, & nitrates before buying new fish.

Do not add fish until all water tests are at proper levels.

Place fish in a non-crowded plastic bag and use less water than oxygen (30% water/ 70% oxygen)

Transport in a cool dark environment keeping them out of the sun.

Float the bag on your pond. Avoid sunlight on bag, which turns it into a greenhouse.

Cover with wet newspaper allowing enough time for temperature to equalize-- usually 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Slowly introduce your pond’s water into the bag- 10% every 5 minutes. After 4 –5 water additions, gently net out fish to the pond and discard transport water.
